Gas-burning or wood-burning, round or rectangular, stone or brick — fire pits designed to be the center of the yard, not an afterthought stuck in a corner.

01 — The work
A fire pit is the highest return-on-cost project in your backyard. It gets used more nights of the year than any other feature we build, and it costs a fraction of a kitchen or pergola.
We build both wood-burning and natural-gas (or propane) fire pits across Northern Virginia. Wood-burning has the smell and the crackle; gas turns on with a knob and works for the neighbor with an HOA. We talk through both during the consult.
Materials are stone veneer, brick, or large-format pavers — designed to match the patio it sits on. Every gas pit is plumbed by a licensed gas plumber and built around a code-rated burner with a manual shutoff.
02 — Typical investment
$3,500 – $15,000
Most fire pits projects in Northern Virginia fall in this range. Exact pricing comes after the free in-home consultation — we measure the site, talk through materials, and write you a clear estimate with no hidden fees.

5 answeredDepends on how you'll use it. Wood-burning gives the campfire smell, the crackle, and longer flames — but it requires storing wood, building the fire, and dealing with ash. Gas turns on instantly, runs cleanly, and is the only option in some HOAs and townhouse layouts. We help you pick based on the lot, the HOA, and how often you'll actually light it.
It depends on the jurisdiction and whether it's gas or wood. Fairfax County, Alexandria, Arlington and Falls Church each have different rules. We research the permit for your address and pull it on your behalf when one is required.
Local code typically requires distance from structures, property lines, and overhead obstructions. Most jurisdictions want at least 10 feet from any structure or combustible material — we verify the specific setback for your address before we site the pit.
Most of what we build is custom. Round, square, rectangular, sunken, raised, integrated into a seat wall, or pulled into the patio surface as a flush feature. We sketch the layout with you on-site during the design visit.
Stacked stone veneer (Pennsylvania fieldstone is the favorite in NoVA), brick to match older homes, and large-format concrete pavers for modern designs. Stone or granite caps along the top edge so the pit doubles as informal seating.
